In “Ukrenergo” they told how much time is needed to improve the situation with electricity after the last attack of the Russian Federation

It will take weeks to improve the lighting situation after the attack by the Russian Federation on the night of December 6, the chairman of the board of Ukrenergo Vitaly Zaichenko said.

“Unfortunately, now the outages last not until 8 o’clock, but probably until 12-4 p.m. in most regions. Today we should have just such schedules from 4 to 8 hours. But due to the strikes on the power system, the duration of outages increased,” he said.

According to Zaichenko, teams of energy engineers are already working to improve the situation. However, the situation is difficult and recovery will take longer than before.

“The situation is quite difficult and in the near future… we are not talking about days, but about weeks, when it will be necessary to recover”, – stressed the chairman of the board of Ukrenergo.

He added that both consumers and sunny weather can improve the situation.

“The only way to improve the situation is to change the behavior of our consumers, who can help energy companies. Namely, reduce consumption, use the most energy-intensive ones only at night or when the weather is very sunny,” Zaichenko summarized.

The Ministry of Energy reported that on the night of December 6, the Russian military launched a massive missile-drone attack on electricity generation, distribution and transmission facilities in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Lviv, Odesa, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv regions. As a result of the attack in the morning, consumers in Odesa, Chernihiv, Kyiv, and Kharkiv are without power, the ministry said.

According to the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, on the night of December 6, the Russian military launched a combined attack on the critical infrastructure of Ukraine using attack UAVs and missiles. The military specified that Russia used 51 missiles and 653 drones for the air attack.

“According to preliminary data, as of 10:00 a.m., 615 air targets were shot down/suppressed by air defense: 585 enemy UAVs of the Shahed, Gerber type (unmanned aerial vehicles of other types); 29 Kh-101/Iskander-K/Kalibr cruise missiles; one Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missile,” the message reads.

According to the Air Force, missiles and 60 strike UAVs were hit at 29 locations, as well as falling debris at three locations.

The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – attack UAVs, rockets, anti-aircraft missiles, and anti-aircraft missiles.

According to the latest UN data, in Ukraine in 2025, the number of civilian deaths from long-range weapons increased by 26%, and the number of wounded – by 75%.

The leadership of Russia denies that the Russian army during a full-scale war inflicts targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the cities and villages of Ukraine, killing the civilian population and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

The Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes of the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are purposeful in nature.
