Residents of the village reported the desecration of soldiers’ graves on Friday, September 27, around 8:20 a.m. According to them, an unknown man tore down state flags and threw crosses from the graves of servicemen at the local cemetery.
At the scene, the police found 11 damaged graves of soldiers who died in the war, protecting the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine from the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
The police established the identity of the attacker. He turned out to be a 44-year-old resident of Ternopil district. Law enforcement officers are investigating the motives of the crime.
The issue of entering information on this fact into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations pursuant to Part 2 of Art. 297 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (insulting a grave, other place of burial). The sanction of the article provides for punishment – from three to five years of restriction or deprivation of liberty.
In the course of the pre-trial investigation, an appropriate examination will be ordered to establish the sanity of the person involved.
