Details: According to Gaspar, the Ukrainians were detained on Tuesday, November 26, but it is currently impossible to provide more specific information about the case and the investigation.
“We have documented, at least at the intelligence level, the long-term coordinated activity of a certain group of individuals, which has the characteristics of a sophisticated intelligence activity and is related to the security of Slovakia and has a potential impact on it,” he said.
Slovak mass media previously reported on the detention of a Ukrainian in the city of Michalovce in the east of Slovakia, as well as on the search of another Ukrainian citizen in the nearby village of Winne.
Gaspar’s statement came after a meeting of Slovakia’s Security Council, which discussed the recent wave of hybrid attacks and threats to mine schools and public buildings.
The head of the Slovak Information Service stated that Slovakia is the only country that has established the identity of the potential perpetrator in the case of landmine threats.
“There is concrete action there. I will be glad if we can present more details in the near future. The level of security risk posed by these means of conducting hybrid warfare is low,” he added.
There have been incidents in European countries before, which are believed to be sabotage by the Kremlin.
In Lithuania, a cargo plane of the logistics company DHL crashed into a building in Vilnius, as a result of which one person died.
And in the Baltic Sea, probably due to the actions of a Chinese vessel, two underwater communication cables were damaged.
