In Nizhyn, a law enforcement officer beat a military man to death: the SBI opened proceedings

On Friday, September 27, in the center of Nizhyn, the head of the district police department ran over a serviceman, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) reports.

“Today around 11:00 a.m., a law enforcement officer in an official car was driving to one of the intersections in the center of Nizhyn. Suddenly, a man ran out onto the road. It was not possible to avoid the collision, the serviceman died on the spot from the injuries he received,” the SBI writes.

It is noted that, “according to preliminary data, the driver of the car was sober.”

The SBI reported that “criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – a violation of the rules of road traffic safety or the operation of a vehicle by a person driving a vehicle, which caused the death of the victim.”

“Necessary investigative actions are being carried out with the aim of a full and comprehensive investigation of the circumstances of the traffic accident,” the SBI added.

It is known that the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office carries out procedural management.

Earlier, on September 26, the State Bureau of Investigation announced the opening of a criminal investigation into the beating of a serviceman at a training ground in Kirovohrad Oblast.
