Details: Opposition policies, representatives of non -governmental organizations and citizens were walking to the Parliament building. The participants of the action demanded the release of activists detained at pro -European rallies, and opposition politicians, as well as holding new parliamentary elections.

The protesters also oppose the participation of opponents of the governing “Georgian Dream” in the upcoming elections to local self -government bodies.
“The specific message of today’s rally is that the so-called Russian elections are part of the Russian special operation. Its scenario and result have already been determined,”-said one of the participants of the action, the leader of the Freedom Square Movement Levan Tsutziridze in an interview with information edition of Interpressnews.
At the end of June, 8 opposition parties of Georgia made a joint statement – they announced that they refused to participate in the elections to local self -government bodies on October 4 this year.
Oppositionists stated that they aimed at “complete dismantling of the Russian regime of Ivanishvili”, protection of independence and sovereignty of Georgia, the establishment of democratic rule of European type, accession to the EU and NATO.
They noted that in the current realities, participation in local elections will only create the visibility of the legitimacy of the “illegal Russian regime” of the “Georgian Dream”.
We will remind, on July 15, the EU sent a letter to renew the rule of law and review strict sentences for opposition members by August 31, otherwise the EU will have to suspend a visa -free regime for Georgia citizens.
And the leaders of the Foreign Ministry of 17 European States and Kai Callas criticized the anti -democratic steps of the Georgian power in a joint statement.
