The Finland Ministry of Defense has launched a new support program for Ukraine, which provides orders for the domestic defense industry.
This is stated in the application of the country’s defense agency.
It is noted that the first additional budget of the government will consider a proposal for a new package of financing the Finnish defense industry worth 660 million euros.
“This new support program will put Finnish companies and expertise at the Support Center of Ukraine. We still supported Ukraine mainly through the transfer of stocks, but in the future we will order considerable volumes of products from our domestic companies. We strengthen these decisions by both Ukraine’s chances of fair peaceful conditions and the Finnish safety and safety sector in the long run, ”said Defense Minister Antta Hakhangen.
The new support program has been prepared under the leadership of the Ministry of Defense since last fall. The preparation included close contacts with industry, international partners and Ukraine.
It is noted that the procurement is carried out by the Department of Logistics of the Armed Forces.
The purchase of materials is based on the critical needs of Ukraine, the suitability of products for supply, as well as on the production and supply capabilities of companies. Products will be transferred to Ukraine as part of future financial aid packages. The roundtable will be convened in the coming weeks under the chairmanship of the Minister of Defense for a more detailed discussion of the funding package with defense companies.
On January 31, it was reported that Finland plans to provide Ukraine with a 27th military aid package for 198 million euros.
On November 28, the Finnish defense concern Summa Defense Ltd reported that in cooperation with Ukrainian partners he would build a plant for the production of drones.
On November 12, Finland and Ukraine signed an agreement that will allow the Ukrainian state to attract loans worth up to 50 million euros.
