This action took place just hours after two other members of the same group were sentenced to prison for a similar action in 2022.
Activists targeted “Sunflowers”, owned by a London gallery, and another painting from the series, which was on loan from the Philadelphia Museum of Art for a temporary exhibition. The action is part of a campaign to draw attention to climate change and calls on governments to halt new oil and gas projects.
So far, both paintings have not suffered serious damage, as they were protected by glass.
