President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the agreements regarding additional air defense systems for Ukraine.

“There are already agreements with partners regarding additional air defense systems for Ukraine, and some of these solutions will work more quickly, and some – closer to the fall. I am grateful to every leader, every state, who really practically support us in this,” he said in his video message.

The day before, the Bloomberg agency, citing its sources, reported that Germany is considering the possibility of sending another Patriot battery to Ukraine.

Ukrainian authorities are increasingly calling on allies to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses after Russian forces launched an offensive in northern Kharkiv Oblast last month. This attack opened a new section of the front, forcing Ukraine to divert military forces from other directions.

In April, Germany promised to provide an additional Patriot battery, and Spain said it would supply Patriot anti-aircraft missiles. According to The New York Times, Ukraine will receive an additional Patriot system from Germany no earlier than the end of June.

During a meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on May 14, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Ukraine needs air defense systems. According to him, two Patriot complexes are needed “already today” for the Kharkiv region, where people constantly suffer from shelling.
