People’s deputy Yurchenko, whom NABU also suspects of corruption, said that the mass media spread information about Grinchuk’s possible involvement in the “Midas” case for money.

The relevant decision was made following the results of the committee meeting on November 14.

During the consideration of Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko’s submission to dismiss Grynchuk from the post of head of the Energy Department, some members of the specialized committee emotionally thanked her for her work. Among them was Oleksandr Yurchenko, who was expelled from the “Servant of the People” faction and is suspected of corruption, whom the National Anti-Corruption Bureau suspects of receiving bribes for making changes to the legislation.

The odious parliamentarian, in particular, said that the information about the possible involvement of the Minister of Energy Grynchuk in the “Midas affair” is being spread for money.

“Svitlana Vasylivna, I want to support you… Pseudo-media and organizations with very different reputations often spread false information for very little money… This is a big policy, so hold on,” the deputy said, referring to NABU and SAP.

He also offered the minister to mobilize to one of the Armed Forces brigades:

“If you want to continue working for Ukraine, there are many vacancies in the 41st Mechanized Division. Join the Defense Forces. Together we will definitely win.”

Grynchuk herself also stated that she did not commit any illegal actions.

According to the results of the review, the committee supported Svyridenko’s submission to dismiss Grinchuk with the wording “due to a conflict of interests.” Despite his passionate previous speech, Oleksandr Yurchenko also voted for this decision, given that the committee supported the minister’s resignation.

The Midas CaseOn November 10, NABU and SAP launched a large-scale operation to expose corruption in the energy sector. The law enforcement officers reported on the exposure of a corruption scheme to influence strategic enterprises of the state sector, in particular in “Energoatom”. On the same day, NABU representatives visited Energoatom and Justice Minister Herman Galushchenko with searches.

According to the investigation, the criminal organization systematically received illegal benefits from the contractors of “Energoatom” in the amount of 10% to 15% of the value of the contracts. In addition, NABU documented the transfer of money from Energoatom to the former deputy prime minister. Judging by the bureau’s video, it is probably about former Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov.

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau announced suspicions against seven persons in the “Midas” case. For five of them, the High Anti-Corruption Court chose preventive measures in the form of detention with the possibility of bail from 12 to over 100 million hryvnias. Bail was posted for the two women involved in the “Midas” case, which allowed them to leave the pretrial detention center.

Director of NABU Semen Kryvonos noted that the investigation of the “Midas” case is ongoing, and expressed confidence that one of the participants in the case – businessman Timur Mindych – will be tried in Ukraine.
