NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte met on Friday in Florida with the newly elected US President Donald Trump, the spokeswoman of the transatlantic military alliance, Fara Dahlallah, reported on November 23.

“They discussed a number of global security issues facing the alliance,” NATO said.

The meeting between Trump and Rutte was not publicly announced in advance.

Donald Trump won the US presidential elections, the change of administration and transfer of power should take place on January 20.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that after being elected president, he will be able to stop the war in Ukraine “within 24 hours.” Both in Moscow and Kyiv, these words were commented on with skepticism. The Washington Post newspaper previously wrote about the details of Trump’s alleged peace plan: it is claimed that he wants to put pressure on both Moscow and Kyiv in order to force them to make peace at the price of Ukraine giving up part of its territories, and Russia giving up other of its demands. Trump has not officially confirmed that this is the plan.

Zelensky said that he had a “great conversation” with Trump on the evening of November 6. Also, on November 7, the Ukrainian president stated that he did not know the details of Donald Trump’s plan to quickly end the war between Ukraine and Russia. He did not discuss it with the newly elected president of the United States.
