In Paris, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi held meetings with bipartisan delegations of the US Senate and House of Representatives.

The head of state thanked the President of the United States of America, Joseph Biden, both chambers and parties of Congress for their support of Ukraine and important military assistance. Separately, he expressed his gratitude for the leadership in the adoption of the law on providing aid to Ukraine in April this year.

“The Congress’s approval of this assistance became an important signal that Ukraine is not alone,” the President emphasized.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed the participants of the meeting in detail about the situation at the front, in particular about the constant massive Russian shelling with guided aerial bombs, attack drones and missiles, as well as about the situation in the Kharkiv Region. The President focused on specific efforts that will help protect the region from air and ground attacks by the Russian invaders.

The head of state noted the importance of the US permission for the limited use of American weapons on the battlefield and spoke about the steps that will make it possible to reduce Russia’s ability to fire at civilian infrastructure objects.

During the meeting, they discussed the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, which can be met thanks to military assistance from the United States.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi also talked about the preparation of the Global Peace Summit and noted the cooperation with the USA in supporting the Summit and involving a wide range of states and regional leaders in its participation.

He called for continued work on directing the frozen assets of the aggressor state of the Russian Federation to support Ukraine.

The President and members of Congress exchanged views on supporting our country on the way to NATO and preparing a security agreement between Ukraine and the USA.
