Shevchenko told how it was possible to save Ukrainian football during the war

President of UAF Andriy Shevchenko in an interview with the French publication L’Équipe, he told how it was possible to preserve and even develop Ukrainian football in the conditions of war:

– How do you manage football in a country at war?

– This is a huge challenge, but we managed not only to preserve, but also to develop Ukrainian football. We operate in challenging environments: air raids, missile strikes, security issues, power outages and complex logistics. These factors complicate our work, but we managed.

Ukraine managed to keep all championships at all levels from amateur to professional football. We have reformed the Cup of Ukraine to attract more clubs and regions. Recently, we organized a round of 16 match just a few kilometers from the Russian border.

In response to the profound changes caused by the war, Ukraine is developing adaptive football. There are more than 100,000 amputees in the country.

Therefore, the UAF launched the League, which provided veterans and civilians with a platform to return to sports, restore self-confidence and demonstrate the resilience of a nation that continues to fight both on and off the field, Shevchenko said.
