Liverpool beat Aston Villa 2:0 in the 10th round of the English Premier League at Anfield. For Arne Slot’s wards, this victory was the first in the last seven matches.

The first half was an equal struggle. Hugo Ekitike’s goal was disallowed for offside, but Mohamed Salah managed to open the scoring in extra minutes, taking advantage of a mistake by goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. For the Egyptian, this ball was the 250th in his career in the Premier League.

In the second half, the Reds doubled their advantage: Ryan Gravenberch, who returned from injury, scored after a ricochet from an opponent. Despite the activity of the guests and the attempts of Rodgers, Barkley and Malen to change the course of the game, goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili acted reliably in the goal and kept a “dry” score.

The win moved Liverpool up to second in the table, level on points with Bournemouth, who have a game in hand. Aston Villa remained in 11th position.
