“I’m really happy to be back in the European Cups and excited to be taking part in it again.
I said last year that it was a real gap in our calendar that didn’t help us play regular football at certain times of the year. It was not easy when we played different opponents and gave our whole team some meaningful playing time.
The worst part was sitting and watching other teams play there. I didn’t like it, so it’s important to get back to the European Cups.
You know, in the group stage, after about the second or third game, you kind of knew who was going to play next, so maybe there were some delays, and now all the games will make sense because all the teams will have something to play for. It’s not a standard home and away approach, you’ll have to play eight different teams, eight different styles of football, so it’s an interesting challenge.
I think at the end we’ll see if it’s had the effect that everybody wanted, if it’s been more exciting throughout the show and not just in the playoffs, but the most important thing is that we’re in it, and since we’re here, we have a chance,” Postecoglou said.
The match between Tottenham and Karabakh will take place today at 22:00 Kyiv time.
