An enemy missile is not an effective tool specifically for destroying ground infrastructure, says Kushnikov.

Vadim Kushnikov, columnist of the “Military” portal, said this on the air of the telethon.

According to him, the Russians produce these missiles in series, but their production volumes, compared to other types of cruise and ballistic missiles, are not large. He reminded that, according to GUR data, for the year 2024, the production capacity of this very tool – 3M22 “Zircon” did not exceed several tens per month.

“Accordingly, this is a tool that the Russians cannot actively use, given the specifics. That is, it is an anti-ship tool. And secondly, the tests of the Russians before a full-scale invasion did not demonstrate the high accuracy of this tool,” Kushnikov emphasized.

At the same time, he recalled that there was a message from the ship’s commander, who took an active part directly in these tests. He noted that the accuracy of such a tool does not exceed several tens of meters. Because of this, it cannot be said that this is an effective tool specifically for damaging ground infrastructure.

Kushnikov noted that the missile hitting the road in Sumy Oblast confirms that it is not a high-precision weapon, and it is not designed to hit ground targets.

“Why do the Russians continue to launch similar means against ground targets? This is an open question. Most likely, certain propaganda goals are being pursued here, and further modernization and adaptation of such missiles for use against ground targets is being worked on,” he suggested.

At the same time, the expert says that such missiles are very vulnerable to Ukrainian electronic warfare equipment.

Strike on Sumy by a Zircon missilePresident Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced that on the night of November 14, Russia launched about 430 drones and 18 missiles over Ukraine, the main direction of the attack being Kyiv. In addition, in the morning the Russians used a Zircon missile in the Sumy Oblast.

Yuriy Ignat, head of the communications department of the Air Force Command, noted that the information about the use of the Zircon missile by the Russians will be further clarified.

At the same time, he said that Russia has already used these missiles several times. First of all, from the occupied Crimean peninsula.

Ignat does not rule out that the Russians wanted to see how the Zircon missile would perform in real combat conditions.
