Privatbank nationalized legitimately – the NBU about the decision of the Supreme Court

The Cassation Administrative Court in the Supreme Court of Ukraine confirmed the impossibility of returning the state “Privatbank” former owners, including Igor Kolomoisky, reported On February 27, the National Bank’s press service.

On February 26, 2025, the court did not grant the cassation appeal of Kolomoisky and left the court decision of the court of appeal, which closed the proceedings for appealing against the nationalization of PrivatBank, informs in the press service.

Igor Kolomoisky appealed to the Supreme Court to declare unconstitutional decisions to nationalize Privatbank. The nationalization of Kolomoisky belonged to 41.66% of the bank’s shares.

In April 2019, the Kyiv District Administrative Court decided in favor of Kolomoisky, recognizing nationalization illegal.

In November 2024, the Supreme Court confirmed the legitimacy of PrivatBank’s nationalization and the inability to return it to former shareholders. The case in courts of different instances lasted for almost five years.

Igor Kolomoisky or other former shareholders have not commented on the court’s decision.
