The EBRD believes that problems with the supply of electricity have a very negative effect on the economy of Ukraine.
European experts believe that problems with the supply of electricity have already led to the interruption of the “substantial” growth of Ukrainian GDP, which could be observed for four quarters. This is what prompted them to revise the estimates for next year.
However, the EBRD forecasts regarding the economic development of Ukraine cannot be called unequivocally “pessimistic”. Thus, despite serious strikes by the Russian Federation on energy facilities, experts still predict GDP growth this year by 3%.
Experts believe that international partners partially covered Ukraine’s needs for this year, but the amount of funding for the next one remains uncertain.
In addition, the country faced a labor shortage, as well as the risk of further destruction of infrastructure facilities and production facilities.
How Ukrainian GDP grew We will remind, in September the Ministry of Economy announced that last month the economy of Ukraine grew by 3.5% [±1%] in comparison with August 2023.
Earlier, the Ministry of Economy reported that in July GDP growth accelerated to 2.7% after 1.6% in June. According to experts, the situation was affected by early harvesting.
At the same time, for January-July, specialists estimated growth at the level of 4.0% [±1%].
