Electricity restrictions will not last long in Ukraine on the weekend – the director of CDE

The energy system of Ukraine after the massive strike remains manageable, albeit with certain restrictions that will not last long, and already at the weekend there will be one, at most two rounds of power outages. Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center (CED), expressed this opinion on Ukrainian Radio. “The enemy hoped for an actual blackout due to the shutdown of nuclear power plants. The perimeter of the strikes was defined quite clearly. They hit high-voltage substations, which are responsible for the withdrawal of electricity from nuclear plants, as well as regional networks where the high-voltage substations have not yet had time to protect, because there is no resources to build protection everywhere at the same time. That is why we did not manage to avoid serious damage in certain areas,” the expert said. According to him, where there is protection and built fortifications, they are once again showing their effectiveness. Advertisement: Kharchenko noted that the enemy aimed at gas storage facilities located in the west of Ukraine, “fortunately, unsuccessfully.” Advertisement: He also emphasized that in Ukraine as a whole, the situation is rather complicated, but under control. “The less massive attacks in 2022-2023 had worse consequences. This means that the efforts we are making to improve our defenses are showing the right thing to do. The same attacks in 2022 led to blackouts. There is also damage now, but they are absolutely not relevant to the previous ones. The attacks will continue and we must prepare for this. The energy workers fulfill the monthly norm of work in three days,” he emphasized he. We will remind: on November 28, as a result of a massive missile and drone attack by Russian troops on Ukraine, 12 hits took place, mainly on objects of the fuel and energy sector. On Friday, November 29, the energy industry will apply up to three rounds of power cuts throughout the day.”, — write: epravda.com.ua
