China has launched an anti-discrimination investigation into restrictive measures taken by Canada, including additional tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, steel and aluminum products.

This month, Beijing also announced plans to test imports of Canadian canola after Ottawa joined the US and European Union in imposing tariffs of 100% on Chinese electric vehicles and 25% on Chinese aluminum and steel.
Most of the canola exported by Canada goes to China, the world’s largest oilseed importer.
China said it deeply condemns and strongly opposes Canada’s discriminatory unilateral restrictive measures and calls for negotiations with Canada within the framework of the World Trade Organization on tariffs.
