“The level of funding for organizations like ours is too low for this time of year,” Karolina Lindholm Billing, a representative of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), told Suspilne.

Currently, this agency has only 47% of the funds needed to help the millions of Ukrainians affected or displaced by the war. Last year, this figure was 70%.

There are now about 3.6 million internally displaced persons in Ukraine, but the destruction of infrastructure and the occupiers’ intensification are causing new population displacements.

“Almost 99,000 people, for example, have evacuated or left front-line villages in the Donetsk region since August 1,” Billing explained.

UNHCR is also working with Ukrainian organizations to provide support to IDPs and provide assistance to the most vulnerable population groups, in particular before the onset of winter. Currently, approximately 650,000 people receive this assistance.

The authorities in Scotland have recently started to drastically cut back on refugees from Ukraine – now they have to pay for food that used to be free.

According to the survey, the majority of Czechs are against accepting new refugees from Ukraine.

Yesterday it became known that Norway began to deny temporary protection to some Ukrainian refugees. They either come from “safe” regions, or did not live in Ukraine at the time of the start of the full-scale war.
