As the holidays approach, many tourists start looking for fairs with twinkling lights, delicious food and a cozy atmosphere.
Wizz Air has analyzed more than 35 popular European markets to find hidden gems that are expected to get less crowded than their more popular counterparts.
The top three were as follows:
- Sibiu (Romania);
- Saranda (Albania);
- Esslingen (Germany).
It is noted that the city of Sibiu in Romania is a “UNESCO European Capital of Culture”. It is known for its medieval architecture, cobbled streets and bright squares:
“The Christmas market takes place in the city’s historic Piata Mare square, surrounded by beautiful Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance buildings.”
Here, visitors can taste traditional Romanian dishes such as michi (fried sausages), sarmale (pigeon dumplings) and kozonac (sweet bread with nut filling).
The fair offers authentic Romanian holiday traditions, a wide selection of local products, food and drinks that visitors may not find in large European markets.
