From the first day of 2026, Ukrainian motorists will face another increase in the prices of gasoline and diesel fuel. Director of the advisory group “A-95” Serhii Kuyun predicts an increase in the cost of fuel by 1-1.5 hryvnias per liter. According to him, the key factors of the price increase will be tax innovations, market changes and seasonal aspects.
The main prerequisites for the increase in fuel prices:
- Increase in excise taxes. Changes to the Tax Code, which provide for an increase in the excise duty on gasoline, diesel and liquefied gas, will take effect on January 1. This is a step towards harmonization of tax legislation with European standards.
- Seasonal ingredient. Logistics expenses increase in winter: adverse weather conditions and increased energy consumption increase the price of fuel transportation.
- International price changes. The Ukrainian fuel market depends on imports, therefore, any changes in the prices of oil and oil products in Europe directly affect domestic retail prices.
According to analysts’ forecasts, the biggest price increase will concern A-95 gasoline, the average price of which at the beginning of the year may reach UAH 59-60 per liter. Diesel fuel will cost approximately UAH 57–58 per liter. However, some networks may extend the period of price increases until February, selling fuel stocks at old excise taxes.
