In an interview with Radio NV, Yuriy Fedorenko, the commander of the battalion of the Achilles attack unmanned aviation complexes of the 92nd separate assault brigade named after Kosh Ataman Ivan Sirk, spoke about the battles in the north of Kharkiv region and the difficult situation in the Kupyan direction, and the importance of informational silence surrounding the successful tactics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
— You work in the north of Kharkiv Oblast, you were one of those units that received the first blow of the Russian offensive since May. It is now the end of September, and we have almost the only positive news from the front — from the Kharkiv direction. The Main Directorate of Intelligence reported that in Vovchansk they managed to clear and free 30 buildings of the aggregate plant. And I really want to perceive this news as the beginning of the liberation of the north of Kharkiv Oblast. What do you say?
— In my opinion, we should first of all think about what is currently an element of victory. An element of victory is not to lose what we already have, the defensive lines on which we stand.
And objectively, if we talk about Kharkiv Oblast, the stretch from Hlyboky to Vovchansk, the enemy made a very persistent start, but met with furious resistance from the Defense Forces. As a result, during the last two and a half months, the enemy did not have any tactical successes on the battlefield. It was able to be significantly stopped.
The enemy’s shock-assault potential was both destroyed and destroyed by the Defense Forces, and the Kursk operation played its role, which pulled away a certain part of the enemy’s means and reserves.
Therefore, we can confidently say that the initiative is fully in the hands of the Defense Forces, both on the Hlyboky and Vovchansk sections. And, as you understand, we are in active defense, that is, we are creating prerequisites so that in the future it will be possible to knock out the enemy from the positions he occupies.

But it is possible to implement such measures firmly enough and, as a result, to obtain the de-occupation of a piece of our land or a specific important territory, from the point of view of both defensive and offensive capabilities of the Defense Forces.
The unit, in particular, performs tasks in the section of Kupyansk. Here the situation is somewhat different. Over the last period, the enemy had tactical successes. I have to tell you that this is one of the difficult areas that is important and a priority for the enemy.
Why? Because there is a border with the Luhansk region and, I believe, the enemy sees that it is necessary to create a certain buffer zone. That’s why they are moving – despite the loss of manpower and equipment – to the left-bank Oskol (river — Ed.) with the aim of occupying a bridgehead, and later — [задля] expansion of the attack on Kupyansk-Vuzlovy.
But in the last 12 days, due to the strengthening and joint work of the Defense Forces, it was possible to significantly stop the advance of the enemy.
How did this morning start for those units that defend the Kupyan region? The information will be accurately announced by the competent bodies of the OTU, the OSU, and the General Staff, but today about 50 units of lightly armored, armored vehicles carried out massive strikes and assaults on the section of a number of brigades that are holding the defense here. As a result, the enemy lost exactly one third of the equipment (losses of the enemy are specified), manpower, and had no success for a long time.
