Thousands of criminal cases related to the Holodomor were made public in Ukraine. They are available on the electronic map.
This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko in Telegram.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with the Holodomor Museum, digitized and published thousands of criminal cases related to the actions of Soviet executioners.
On the electronic map of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, photocopies of more than a thousand archival files are already available, as well as information about the same number of documents destroyed in 1956.
“These materials prove that the famine was a deliberate tool for the subjugation of the Ukrainian people. We must remember this in order to never give up our freedom,” said Klymenko.
In the last century, Ukrainians experienced three great famines – in 1921-23, 1932-1933, and 1946-47. Every year on the fourth Saturday of November in Ukraine, the memory of the victims of the Holodomor is commemorated.
The exact number of Holodomor victims is unknown. However, historians and researchers believe that millions of Ukrainians died.
Now about 30 countries have recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide against the Ukrainian people. The process of genocide recognition accelerated during full-scale war.
In July 2023, the Verkhovna Rada supported the allocation of over half a billion hryvnias for the completion of the construction of the Holodomor Museum. However, in the same month, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy promised a draft law, noting that more money is needed for defense.
It will be recalled that after the scandal involving the Ministry of Culture’s state financing of dubious series, Zelenskyy gave Prime Minister Shmyhal two tasks – to find extra-budgetary funds for “museums, cultural centers, series, films”, because although this is important, there are other priorities now. The Holodomor museum fell under this reduction. And the second is to look for someone to replace the Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko. As a result, he was released.
