This was announced by the spokesman of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko, on the telethon “Edyny Novyny”.
“At the moment, we have not received additional information from our Polish colleagues about the blocking, which may extend to other checkpoints. But we remember that a few weeks ago, an action was also announced in the direction of the Sheghini checkpoint, then it did not start, Polish farmers started these actions today,” said the spokesman.
Demchenko advised truck drivers to reorient themselves to other checkpoints on the border with Poland, while the protest continues at “Medyka – Sheghina”. According to him, at other points, the movement of trucks is not blocked either to the exit or to the entrance to Ukraine.
The DPSU spokesman also emphasized that Polish farmers limit the movement of trucks only. Cars and buses travel without complications.
We will remind that in the morning Polish farmers started a new strike on the border with Ukraine on Saturday, November 23. The movement of trucks was restricted.
Only in March, due to blocking of the border by Polish farmers, Ukraine lost UAH 6.5 billion in customs revenue.
In Poland, farmers announced large-scale protests across the country on Wednesday, March 20. In particular, demonstrations with agricultural machinery and blockades are planned in about 400 places. A dozen important roads on the approach to Warsaw will also be affected.
