According to lawyer Oleksandr Protas, Sopin’s death was classified as intentional murder. The lawyer noted that he had information from one of the military personnel who was in the premises about a possible conflict:
“The soldier who accompanied Roman reported that he saw a conflict: two people allegedly threatened or demanded something from Sopin. After that, I saw how he was lying,” Protas said.
At the same time, the representative of Kyiv city TCC Vitaly Silenko denied the information about the conflict:
“There were no reports of conflict situations. They talked to the servicemen who were there. According to them, Mr. Roman Sopin was standing and talking with other people, suddenly he felt sick: he lost consciousness, fell down and started convulsing,” said Silenko.
The investigation is ongoing, law enforcement officers are studying video camera recordings and military testimony to determine the exact cause of death.
