The Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, Semen Kryvonos, criticized other law enforcement agencies for their inaction regarding corruption in the energy sector, despite the fact that they had relevant information.

He announced this at the forum “Government Accountability: Effective Tools for Activists and Journalists”, which was held on Friday.

Kryvonos emphasized that the special operation of NABU and SAP “Midas” was able to be carried out only thanks to public pressure and protests in July of this year, when society opposed attempts to limit the powers of anti-corruption bodies.

According to him, the problem of energy corruption was known to all law enforcement agencies, but no law enforcement agency took effective measures to expose it.

“Many industries need to be updated in order for the law enforcement system to start working adequately. I tell you absolutely authoritatively that every law enforcement agency working in Ukraine had one or another information about this trash (corruption in the energy sector) that is happening, and none of them did anything about it. I sincerely believe that now everyone (a law enforcement officer) will have an opinion: if I do not identify, I will remain silent, what will happen next? Therefore, I think that this will lead to changes,” Kryvonos emphasized.

It will be recalled that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced the upcoming personnel decisions in the Cabinet of Ministers, which will affect the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Justice. The final changes will be adopted after the completion of the audit of state-owned companies and the evaluation of their work efficiency.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Olga Stefanishyna, reported that Kyiv maintains a constant dialogue with the US Congress regarding the corruption scheme in the energy sector, which was recently exposed by Ukrainian law enforcement officers.

About the hand of the Kremlin in corruption scandals in the energy sector Mykhailo Podolyak expressed himself in own social networks

Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine Katarina Maternova commented large-scale corruption investigation in the energy sector and stressed that Ukraine is simultaneously fighting against Russia and for the trust of its citizens and partners.
