As a result of a Russian drone attack on a hospital in Sumy, 43-year-old police colonel Ihor Poladich, who arrived at the site of the attack after the first explosion, was killed, the National Police reported on Saturday, September 28.
It is noted that the law enforcement officer died during a repeated attack on the hospital, when rescuers and policemen had already arrived there.
The head of the personnel support sector of the Sumy district police department, Ihor Poladych, was mortally wounded.
“Ihor devoted more than 20 years of his life to service in internal affairs bodies. During the full-scale invasion of the Russian armed forces into Ukraine, he performed his professional duties until his last breath,” says the National Police.
The deceased law enforcement officer is survived by a son and a daughter.
The attack on the hospital in the city of Sumy on September 28 – what is known
On the morning of September 28, Russian troops hit the hospital in Sumy with mortars twice. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of the first strike, one person died, and the ceiling of several floors of the medical facility was destroyed. After rescuers and policemen arrived at the scene and the evacuation began, the occupiers struck again.
One policeman was killed, another was wounded. Doctors are also among the injured, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported. In total, as of 2:00 p.m., nine people were killed and 19 were injured. More than 100 patients were evacuated from the hospital.
