The National Police of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor’s Office, established the identities of five Russian soldiers involved in the shootings of civilians during the occupation of Buchi in 2022.
They were charged in absentia with war crimes, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported on November 1.
According to the GUR, all five served as part of the 234th Airborne Assault Regiment of the 76th Division of the Russian Armed Forces, which operated in the Kyiv region in the first weeks of the invasion. They took part in the execution of 17 civilians of Buchi.
Suspects:
• Lieutenant Yuriy Kim — platoon commander of the 4th Assault Company;
• Private Yevhenii Meshalkin — gunner-operator of the 2nd BTGR;
• Senior Sergeant Anatoly Pavlov — gun commander of the 2nd self-propelled artillery battery;
• Senior Sergeant Shamil Gasanguliyev — commander of the 4th Airborne Assault Company;
• senior soldier Pavlo Kretinin — deputy platoon commander of the 2nd BTGR.
Intelligence emphasizes that these occupiers are directly involved in the torture and murder of Ukrainian civilians.
According to official data, during the Russian occupation, 381 people died in Buch, and 554 in the territory of the entire Buchan community, including 12 children. Most of the bodies of civilians — about 40 — were found after the deoccupation on Yablunska Street.
It will be recalled that the SBU detained a traitor who was preparing to blow up the car of a National Police official in Dnipro.
Also, the SBU and the National Police exposed 20 organizers of mobilization evasion schemes throughout Ukraine.
