During the detention by detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), two members of a high-level criminal organization in the energy sector tried to destroy evidence.
This was reported by the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office during the session of the High Anti-Corruption Court.
Ihor Myronyuk, Herman Galushchenko’s adviser during his work as Minister of Energy, tried to destroy documents.
“Myroniuk, who is also known by the nickname Rocket, tore up documents, tried to hide them and threw them out the window. Along with the documents, he threw his mobile phone out the window,” the prosecutor’s office said.
In addition, Dmytro Basov, executive director of physical protection and security of JSC NAEK Energoatom, smashed his mobile phones during the detention, according to the investigation.
Oleksandr Abakumov, the head of the NABU detective unit, said that the operation called “Midas” lasted 15 months and more than 70 searches were conducted within its limits.
According to the investigation, the members of the organization created a large-scale corruption scheme to influence strategic state enterprises, in particular, JSC NAEK Energoatom. Key figures include:

Timur Mindich (“Carlson”) – businessman;

Herman Galushchenko (“Professor”) – Minister of Justice and former Minister of Energy;

Dmytro Basov (“Tenor”) – executive director for physical protection and security of JSC “NAEK Energoatom”;

Ihor Myronyuk (“Rocket”) is Galushchenko’s adviser.
The investigation established that the organization systematically received 10-15% of the value of the contracts from the counterparties of Energoatom.
Minister of Justice of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko is a “litmus test” in the corruption history of Energoatom, according to People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak. According to his information, the Office of the President does not plan to dismiss the officials involved in embezzlement in any way. They will continue to be held in office without a court verdict. This also applies to the current Minister of Energy, Svitlana Grynchuk, who is mentioned in audio recordings about energy corruption.
