According to the results of the first half of 2024, the company DTEK Energy suffered losses in the amount of more than 1.5 billion UAH, which is connected with a decrease in the amount of electricity generation due to attacks on the company’s thermal power plants (TPP).
Only in the period from March to June, seven massive attacks were recorded, which destroyed or damaged 90% of thermal generation. To restore the damaged facilities, the company estimates losses at 14-16 billion UAH ($350-400 million).
Despite financial difficulties, DTEK Energo continues to invest in the restoration of thermal power plants and the extraction of coal necessary for their operation. In the first half of the year, the company invested more than UAH 1.4 billion in TPP restoration and UAH 4 billion in Ukrainian coal mining, which enabled the commissioning of 10 new coal mines.
The company also fulfilled its obligations to the state, paying almost UAH 9.3 billion in taxes, which is 62% more than in the same period last year. In the conditions of war and attacks on the energy infrastructure, DTEK Energo continues to maintain the reliability of the Ukrainian energy system and prepares for the upcoming heating season.
