“Counterintelligence of the Security Service detained another FSB agent in Mykolaiv. He turned out to be an ex-teacher of a local university. The extra person corrected the missile and drone strikes of the Russian Federation on the regional center,” the report says.
According to the SBU, in order to direct enemy weapons to “bypass” Ukrainian air defense, the traitor tried to identify the combat positions of anti-aircraft missile systems and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces.
“For this, he installed a hidden video camera in the attic of the apartment building where he lived. With the help of this “observation post”, the person involved hoped to also monitor the approximate number and types of weapons of the Ukrainian troops moving in the direction of the front line,” the special service noted.
According to the investigation, the agent of the Russian Federation came to the attention of the FSB when he published his anti-Ukrainian comments on Russian Telegram channels. After remote recruitment, his further communication with the occupiers took place through a “liaison” from the temporarily occupied part of the territory of the Donetsk region.
The perpetrator is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Earlier, the Counterintelligence of the Security Service detained two more agents of the Russian military intelligence (better known as the GRU), who were preparing missile and drone strikes by Russians in the northern regions of Ukraine.
According to the evidence base of the Security Service, an agent of the FSB of Russia, who operated in Zaporizhzhya under the operational pseudonym “007”, was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
