“It’s going to be difficult for any team that is in the Premier League for the first time. Especially since most of the players in our team are guys who have come a long way with us from amateurs to the Premier League. It’s a new experience for them, but the team has to prepare for it.
Most of our players played in the First League. They deserve to play in the UPL. With their tireless work and play, they proved that they want to play in the elite, and that’s why they stayed with us.
But the level of the UPL is much higher, and everyone must be brought up to it: the club’s management, coaches, and players. We are moving step by step, but it will take some time.
When we played in the PFL competitions, we understood that in the first season we should not expect any serious results from Poltava. Both the club’s management, and I, as the president, and the coaches also understood this very well. I think that the players also understand this, but going to each game, they must prove to themselves and to other teams that they are worth playing in the UPL. We understood where we were going and why we were going.
There are two ways: extensive and intensive. That is, you can pour a lot of money, buy very cool players, and it is not yet a fact that they will show results in the first season. And there is a way of work — daily, hard, painstaking work, when coaches and football players will prove to themselves that they are better than others,” Ivashchenko said.
Now SC Poltava occupies the last place in the UPL, having scored 6 points after 12 rounds played.
