From the BAFTA-nominated George Gendi (Gumball, Apple & Onion) and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, the eight-part Living the Dream follows best friends Des and Ray, “a couple of really cool guys from London who should have made it big by now but haven’t but still could.”
“Instead,” reads a plot synopsis, “they’re stuck at a we’re-gonna-save-the-planet type company called Ecofood, doing ‘social media’ for hardly any money. Now they must navigate awkward workplace romance, HR blunders, directives from the LA office and Ray’s dad’s disapproval. Could be worse, but could be much, much better.”
The show’s voice cast includes Gendi, Javone Prince, Tom Stourton, Ellie White, Chris Diamantopoulos, and Stavros Halkias, as well as Gavin and Stacey‘s Julia Davis and One Day star Ambika Mod.
Gendi said: “If living the dream is being asked for a quote for a press release to announce my new show and then at Netflix’s request, trying to make it more cheeky/funny and then doing that countless times because none of them are good enough, then I’ve made it. Anyway, let’s see if they let me use this one.”
Executive producers on Living the Dream are Sam Register (Looney Tunes Cartoons, Teen Titans Go!) and Sarah Fell and Daniel Lennard (The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe).
Ireland’s Boulder Media is the animation studio behind the series. In addition to Gendi, writers on the series include Phoebe Walsh, Ellie White, Joe Parnham and Joe Markham.
