The locusts can now be seen everywhere – in yards, cities and even houses. For the first time in decades, the region has faced so many pests: clouds of locusts came from the dried Kakhovka reservoir.

According to experts, the cause of the outbreak was the dry years and the lack of soil cultivation, in particular, because of the war.
In such circumstances, the locusts quickly multiply and migrate over long distances. Particularly vulnerable to the defeat are untreated areas.

According to the Main Department of the State Consumer Service in the Zaporizhzhia region, as a food locust eats leaves, stems, flowers grew. And during mass migration, all sowing can be destroyed in the short term, and the crop loss can be from 25 to 100 percent.
The locust can actively fly by several kilometers, in the case of windy weather is carried over long distances. The main “tanks” of pest populations are in floodplain meadows in river delta.
