Rustem Umerov He was born on April 19, 1982 in the city of Samarkand (Uzbekistan. – Ed.) In the family of Crimean Tatars, which were deported from Alushta during Soviet repression. It is an ethnic Crimean Tatar and professes Islam. Umerov is married and has three children.

He received his secondary education in the Crimean boarding school for gifted children, which was subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. He was also a participant in the Flex Exchange Program (Flex), thanks to which he studied in the United States. He received his higher education at the National Academy of Management, where he received a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in finance.

He started his career in the telecommunications field – from 2004 to 2010 he worked in leadership positions in Lifecell. During the same period, UMErov engaged in investment activity: founded an Astem, which works in the industries of investments, telecommunications and infrastructure. He also created the ASEM Foundation Charitable Foundation, which implements projects in the field of education, culture and support of young people.

In 2019, Rustem Umerov was elected People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the IX convocation from the Voice Party. In the Verkhovna Rada, he held the position of Secretary of the Committee on Human Rights, the de -occupation of temporarily occupied territories, reintegration, as well as national minorities and inter -ethnic relations. His parliamentary activity was closely linked to the topics of human rights protection, Crimea’s de -occupation and the support of the Crimean Tatar people.

Yesterday, the Verkhovna Rada appointed a new government.

Viktor Lyashko – Minister of Health;
Sergey Marchenko – Minister of Finance;
Oleksiy Sobolev – Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture – the newly created Ministry (from the United Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Agro -Policy and the Ministry of Environmental Protection);
Denis Ulyutin is the Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine.
