The Kremlin refuses to discuss the status of occupied territories of Ukraine in negotiations

Presidential Presidential President Dmitry Peskov told reporters on February 27 that Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions are “an integral part of Russia”, and therefore “no discussions on this issue can be”.

“Those territories that have become subjects of the Russian Federation, which are recorded in the Constitution of our country, are an integral part of our country of Russia. This is an absolutely indisputable fact and an untreated fact, ”he said.

Thus, Peskov commented on the words of US President Donald Trump that the agreement on the end of the war against Ukraine would provide for the return of the territories occupied by Russia by Russia.

“We will try to get Ukraine as much as possible to bring it back as much as possible,” Trump said on February 26.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Serhiy Lavrov stated that Moscow was not ready for ceasefire in Ukraine for negotiations. The condition of the beginning of the negotiations of Lavrov called an agreement on Ukraine’s inability to NATO and recognize the Russian annexation of Ukrainian territories.

In Kiev, such requirements have been repeatedly stated.

Analysts of the American Institute for War Study (ISW) have previously noted that the statements of Russian authorities show that the Kremlin is not ready to participate in bona fide negotiations on the termination of the Russian war against Ukraine.
