Deputy Head of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva held a meeting with State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany Thomas Bagger.
During the meeting, they discussed the security situation in Ukraine and the state of critical infrastructure against the background of increased massive Russian shelling.
Ihor Zhovkva thanked Germany for its European leadership in providing military aid to Ukraine. The total amount of support currently amounts to more than 12 billion euros.
“I especially want to note Germany’s significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s anti-missile defense. First of all, the Patriot and IRIS-T systems, which save millions of lives in Ukraine every day. We are very much counting on no less support from Germany next year,” he emphasized.
They discussed separately what ways Ukraine sees for the restoration of a just peace. The main focus is obtaining reliable guarantees from partners.
“The best security guarantee for Ukraine is membership in NATO. We count on strong political decisions of the Alliance countries regarding the invitation of Ukraine to NATO,” said the deputy head of the President’s Office.
Other topics of the meeting include the implementation of the bilateral security agreement and prospects for expanding cooperation in the production of weapons in Ukraine.
