The photo exhibition “Strength of Unity” opened in the building of the Ministry of Refugees and Migration in The Hague, which tells the stories of indomitable Ukrainians who, thanks to their unity and determination, overcome difficulties every day and continue the fight for Ukraine.
Almost every day, she photographed Ukrainian volunteers who send drones, “quicks”, humanitarians, help our defenders in rehabilitation, as well as Ukrainian refugees who do not lose themselves in a foreign country, become an example for others, creating charitable funds, motivational, informative and cultural projects In her photos, there are Ukrainians who have been living in the Netherlands for a long time and actively help Ukraine, and, of course, Dutch people who opened their homes to Ukrainians, became volunteers and true friends.
“These photos show 23 stories of Ukrainians and Dutch people who actively support our country. This exhibition should be supplemented, because there are extremely many volunteers and simply proactive, caring people who help our country. I really want to show how active, united, and courageous Ukrainians are. This is incredible volunteer activity. I live in a hostel and very often I meet people who feel hopeless, preserved in their “bubble”, it is difficult for them to open up after what they have experienced. Thinking about when the war ends, what will happen to us next, drives them into depression and they forget what they were like before the full-scale invasion. I really want my project to inspire and motivate Ukrainians who have given up. Ukrainians are incredible, and we have proven it more than once. I really want to show it to the world,” Lera Manzovitova, the author of the photo, told Ukrinform.
The photo exhibition “Strength of Unity” dedicated to the Ukrainian community in the Netherlands opened in The Hague / Photo: Iryna Drabok, Ukrinform:
Each photo is a living story that impresses with its sincerity and power, and reminds the world that victory is possible only through joint efforts, faith and unwavering unity.
“The Ukrainian community in the Netherlands, although far from home, has shown incredible strength, helping others, preserving our culture and traditions. This exhibition shows us all that solidarity and unity are not just theoretical concepts. It is about relations between people, shared values and the desire for a just peace for Ukraine. I will also note that the author of these photos is an example of how volunteerism, support of others and social activity can help move forward in difficult times. The Dutch government, volunteers and charities have shown extraordinary generosity. We are sincerely grateful for the comprehensive support and solidarity of the Dutch people. We would not have been able to achieve success without the support of our partners and true friends, such as the Netherlands,” said Ukrainian Ambassador to the Netherlands Oleksandr Karasevich.
The exhibition became a symbol of solidarity and support that Ukraine receives from the international community, and encourages further struggle for peace and justice.
“When I look at these photos, I see very brave, resilient, very resourceful people. We are happy to work together with all of you. It is very difficult to live far from home, it is difficult to realize that there is a war in your country. I really want to help you and I am so glad that you have such a strength of unity. I am very pleased to see the stories of such a large number of enterprising Ukrainians in the Netherlands. What you are doing for your country and for each other is incredible,” said Luc Leussink, Director of the Department for Displaced Persons from Ukraine, Ministry of Refugees and Migration of the Netherlands, in a comment to Ukrinform.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Netherlands held a “Flowers of Gratitude” campaign on the 1000th day of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, during which Ukrainians handed out a yellow flower to random passers-by as a symbol of gratitude for shelter and help.
