Details: The first list included 34 people. Among them are former government officials, people’s deputies, heads of the SBU and the Prosecutor General’s Office, prosecutors, artists, Russian political, religious and cultural figures. All of them were deprived of state awards of Ukraine indefinitely.

As explained by the head of state, the maximum set of sanctions – 21 types – was applied to ten of them. It is not only about the deprivation of state awards of Ukraine, but also, in particular, about the blocking of assets, the cancellation of licenses and permits, and the complete cessation of trade operations.

Among them, sanctions were applied to seven for the first time. In particular, this is the former first deputy leader of the political party “Party of Regions” and the head of the relevant faction Oleksandr Yefremov, who had the “For Merit” orders of the I-III degrees and Prince Yaroslav the Wise of the V degree.

Former First Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Renat Kuzmin was also stripped of his awards. He had the Order of Merit II-III degree and the title “Honored Lawyer of Ukraine”.

Also, eight persons who are already under other sanctions of Ukraine were deprived of state awards of Ukraine, namely:

Former People’s Deputy of II-IV and IX convocations Viktor Medvedchuk. He was awarded the “For Merit” orders of I-III degrees and Prince Yaroslav the Wise V degree, had the title of “Honored Lawyer of Ukraine”.

Former Minister of Education and Science (2010–2014) Dmytro Tabachnyk. He had orders of Prince Yaroslav the Wise IV-V degrees and the title “Honored Worker of Science and Technology”.

Former Prime Minister of Ukraine (2010–2014) Mykola Azarov, who was awarded the Order of Merit I-III degrees and Prince Yaroslav the Wise V degree, and also had the title “Honored Economist of Ukraine”.

In addition, the former Prosecutor General of Ukraine (2010–2014) Viktor Pshonka was also deprived of the state award of Ukraine. He had the Order of Merit, III degree.

Andriy Derkach, former People’s Deputy of the III-IX convocations. He had the Order of Merit, III degree.

Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church and former KGB agent, Patriarch Kirill. He was awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 1st degree.

Russian singers Mykola Baskov, Philip Kirkorov, Oleksandr Malinin, Russian composer Ihor Krutoy were deprived of the honorary title of “People’s Artist of Ukraine”, and singers Karolina Kuyek (Ani Lorak) and Taisia ​​Povaliy were also awarded the title of “Honored Artist of Ukraine”.

What preceded: The Verkhovna Rada supported draft law No. 11410, which provides for the deprivation of state awards of Ukraine of persons who have been convicted of serious or particularly serious crimes, criminal offenses against the foundations of Ukraine’s national security, against peace, security of humanity and international legal order, certain crimes against public safety; those who promote the aggressor state or justify the occupation of Ukraine.

On November 20, the law was returned to the parliament with the signature of the president.
