US President-elect Donald Trump has announced that he is nominating Key Square Group hedge fund manager Scott Bessant to the post of US Treasury Secretary.

Details: Bessent, 62, was a key economic adviser to Trump during the election campaign. He developed economic policy and prepared important speeches.
His first priority will be to push forward the tax breaks Trump introduced in 2017, which expire next year.
Bessent is known for his desire to revise the US currency policy, although he does not support an active depreciation of the dollar.
Bessent criticized the administration of President Joe Biden for the management of the national debt and advocated the expansion of the “friendshoring” policy, which involves differentiated terms of trade with partners.
