Denmark and Ukraine have agreed on billion-dollar investments in the Ukrainian defense industry for a total of 4.2 billion Danish kroner ($628 million).

As reported in the press service of the country’s defense department, Ukrainian weapons and equipment will reach the front with the help of funding from Denmark. For this purpose, it uses income from frozen Russian assets.
Defense Minister Trels Lund Poulsen, together with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umyerov and Minister of Strategic Industry Herman Smetanin, signed an agreement on intentions to continue cooperation on contracts with Ukrainian defense enterprises.
“This strengthens the ability of Ukrainians to produce exactly the weapons for which there is a demand,” – emphasized Trels Lund Poulsen.
The acquisition will be financed with 1.3 billion Danish kroner, which the government, with the support of the Danish parliament, has allocated for this purpose, and 2.9 billion Danish kroner from frozen Russian assets, which Denmark must transfer to cash on behalf of the EU.
“Denmark is leading the way by donating weapons directly from the Ukrainian defense industry. This strengthens the ability of Ukrainians to produce precisely the weapons that are in demand,” said Troels Lund Poulsen.
Recently it became known that the Danish government directs 130 mln Danish crowns (over 16 million euros) to support the energy system of Ukraine, which has been and is being subjected to Russian attacks.
On September 20, Umerov announced that EUR 40.7 million from the aid package from Denmark had been received in the accounts of the Ministry of Defense in Ukrainian production.
