“I didn’t expect that.” Sinner responded to WADA’s appeal

Number one in the world ranking Yannick Sinner after reaching the 1/4 finals at the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing, responded to an appeal from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to the Court of Arbitration for Sport regarding violations of anti-doping rules.

– What do you think about the fact that they published their statement just as you were playing?
– Well, we can’t control everything. Obviously I’m very disappointed, but I’m also surprised by this appeal, to be honest, because we’ve had three hearings. All three hearings were very positive for me.

You know, I didn’t expect that. I found out a few days ago that they are going to file an appeal, that it will become official today.

But yes, it’s a surprise. We always talk about the same thing. Maybe they just want to make sure things are done right. “Yeah, I’m just surprised they appealed,” Sinner said.

In March of this year, Sinner passed two positive doping tests, but was ultimately found not guilty by an independent tribunal of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).
