After many months of negotiations, Germany has concluded an agreement with Turkey, which provides for the deportation of asylum seekers who have been refused asylum.
This was reported by the German publication Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on Friday, September 27.
According to the publication, the Ankara government is ready to receive up to 500 citizens every week.
Initially, it is planned to return 200 people to Turkey by regular flights. The planes will take off from various airports in Germany.
German Interior Minister Nancy Feser also announced the start of planned deportations to Turkey.
“Now we have achieved that repatriation to Turkey can happen faster and more efficiently, and Turkey will more quickly accept citizens who are not allowed to stay in Germany,” she said.
Feser also stated about “significant progress’ and ‘further steps to curb illegal migration’.
