Details: Commenting on the course of the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, Bauer said that today both sides have the same problems, in particular, personnel, the problem of training new recruits, and the search for new opportunities and ammunition.

Bauer predicts that “when there will be the most appropriate moment – and this is an estimate – the Russians will try to attack, and Ukraine will consider counter-attacks.”

“Kursk is a good example of a counteroffensive and where Ukraine invaded. It’s the first time since 1941 that a foreign country is on Russian soil! This is a strategic problem for Russia. And it also creates operational problems for Russia because of the logistics lines that pass through Kursk.” , – stated the top military officer.

At the same time, he noted that as a result of the Kursk counteroffensive, “there are a number of successes” for Ukraine, although “some things are happening, most likely, not as planned, as conceived.”

“Maybe Ukraine expected the withdrawal of additional troops from the Donbass to the Kursk region. And it didn’t happen as everyone thought,” Bauer believes.

He also explained that the operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation should be “looked at in a multi-layered way: at the strategic, operational and tactical levels.”

“If you look at the strategic level, then Ukraine creates a strategic dilemma for Russia. When Putin says that he is defending the motherland, he is not successful in this, because Ukraine is now in Russia. This is bad. Therefore, I think that this is a smart move by Ukraine It also led to a discussion in Russia about “what are we going to do about it”, “are we going to reorient ourselves from Donbas to Kursk or not?”, Bauer added.

At the same time, he stated that the Russians are “advancing slowly with heavy losses” in Donbas.

“These are not huge achievements, but they are achievements. And Ukraine continues to defend itself very courageously and, for the most part, very effectively,” he said.

Earlier, the Minister of Defense of Estonia, Hanno Pevkur, expressed the opinion that thanks to the operation in the Kursk region, Ukraine can get a better position for negotiations with Russia.

In turn, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg believes that Ukraine achieved “a lot” during the operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
