The Minister of Foreign Affairs of China is in the United States at the session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
US President Joe Biden said at the UN General Assembly this week that the US seeks to responsibly manage competition with China so that it does not turn into a conflict, and is also ready to cooperate on urgent challenges.
“As far as conviction goes, the United States is not shy about standing up to unfair economic competition and military coercion by other countries in — in the South China Sea, in maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, in protecting our most advanced technologies so that they cannot be used against us or any of our partners,” he said.
The United States has expressed concern about China’s ties to Russia following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, while Beijing has repeatedly expressed concerns about US ties to Taiwan.
China says it is neutral in Russia’s war against Ukraine, but has been criticized for refusing to condemn Moscow over its full-scale invasion in February 2022 and for its ties to Russia.
