Data contained in the new Dealroom reportsshow that venture capital investment in defense-related technology outpaces any other type of investment.
The bulk of investments since 2018 have come from startups in Germany, Great Britain and France, which together accounted for 87%, or $2.2 billion of the total $3 billion.
Only German defense technology companies have attracted more in the past six years than companies from Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK combined.
A large part of this investment was directed to companies based in Munich, which topped the list of European cities in the report. It is also about 487 million dollars, which was attracted by the startup Helsing, which is engaged in “artificial intelligence on the battlefield” (year 2024).
Bristol and Britain’s Silicon South West, best known for its defense and space industries, have attracted the next-highest sums of investment in defense technology, followed by Paris.
