The pension fund has accumulated a debt of 17 billion for the pensions of Chernobyl residents

As of August 1, 2024, the Pension Fund of Ukraine has accumulated 161,300 court decisions requiring pension payments to victims of the Chernobyl disaster.

This is stated in the institution’s response to the EP’s request.

It is, in particular, about increasing pensions for unemployed pensioners living in radiation-contaminated territories.

The state needs 17.2 billion hryvnias from the budget to repay the debt due to these decisions.
