The Chinese diplomat emphasized that his country has always maintained an objective and fair position on the issue of the “Ukrainian crisis”, and the accusations against Beijing of supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine are baseless.
“If someone still blames China, then he is trying to shift the responsibility to our country, and he also has ulterior motives,” Wang Yi emphasized.
At the same time, during the meeting, Borrell told the Chinese Foreign Minister that the support provided by the PRC to the Russian Federation fuels the Russian war against Ukraine and does not contribute to the achievement of a just peace. This is stated on the website of the European External Action Service.
“The high representative of the EU raised the topic of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and confirmed the belief that the material and diplomatic support of the Russian Federation by China is fueling the Russian war, which causes direct threats to European security,” the agency quoted Borrell as saying.
In particular, the head of European diplomacy expressed deep concern over the growth of the export of a large number of goods and dual-purpose items, which significantly help the Russian Federation to build up its military-industrial base.
According to Borrell, any proposals for a just peace in Ukraine should be based on the UN Charter, and the joint statement of China and Brazil from May 2024 is not directed in this direction.
